The Way of Herbs written by Michael Tierra, C.A., N.D.

This is by far one of the best herbal books I have had the pleasure of finding. The path of the herbalist is a cultivated attitude towards nature and all of creation. The author has studied with both Native Americans and Chinese culture to learn much about the ways of herbs. One must also remember that it is not the herbs alone that help us heal but we must also include a healthy diet.

A Balanced Diet:

Primary Foods: Whole Grains (and a lesser amount of beans to balance protien) make up 40-60% of diet.

Secondary Foods: Fresh Vegitables, mostly in season, mostly cooked, make up 30-40% of diet.

Tertiary Foods: Meat, Dairy, and Fruits make up not more that 10-20% of diet.
